I started this blog back in 2011 when I was working as an Online Community and Social Media Manager for futurechallenges.org (an international blogger network). I was fascinated by the number of interesting blogposts and by the way how these blogposts were written: personal, emotional and unfiltered. I thought I would start a blog as well – having no detailed concept in mind – in order to write about topics at the interface between politics, society and the Internet. And these are still the dominant topics on Beyond Borders.

I work as a Freelance Social Media Manager, mostly for non-profit organizations. This is not a general principle but my background as a Political Scientist steered me in this non-profit direction. I’m also translator and author for Global Voices (GV Deutsch).
